Look Up is a pioneering augmented reality project, creating a trail of digital artworks on the rooftops of iconic buildings in Sheffield city centre. This urban AR gallery showcases Sheffield-based artists, launching with our work and work by Human Studio.
The free Look Up app guides you to four locations. Use the app to scan the QR code on the ground at each location to open a portal to its artwork. Each artwork appears on the building’s roof, creating a unique audio-visual animation on your own phone screen.
For Look Up, we collaborated with the project’s producers at Marketing Sheffield, a team within Sheffield City Council; San Francisco-based Pokémon Go developers Niantic Labs; immersive app creators Megaverse; artists at Human Studio; and marketing agency Jaywing.
The project is funded by the Getting Building Fund. It aims to encourage people to visit the city centre and promote Sheffield’s thriving creative and tech sectors.
